Trained under acclaimed national and international Artists, Diana Holcombe works in oils, pastels and colored pencils. Currently, she is studying under national portrait artist, Deborah Ankrom-Kepes, from Georgia.
Animals are a favorite of hers, and when working on a portrait of one, she tries to capture its personality. She has had many requests to paint someone’s beloved pet that has passed away so that they will have something to remember them by.
The painting “I’ll Always Remember” was created in memory of her father-in-law, who served in the army during WWll. The items used in the painting hold special meaning for Diana, as they belonged to her “Pap.” The letter, in the painting, was from his sweetheart, who later became his wife and Diana's mother-in-law.
This is the first in her series of military paintings to remember and honor those who have served or are serving our country.
Her next painting in the series, titled “Homecoming,” is for the Marines.
Diana has received many awards and honors for her artwork. She has been named "Best Woman Artist in Oils and Acrylic" and has had several awards for her work in colored pencil.
