Serving the Ohio Valley for over 20 years

Matthew Thibault

Matthew Thibault is an Ohio Valley-trained violinist of 22 years. He started violin lessons at the age of 6, and continued lessons until leaving for The Ohio State University to study engineering. He was taught using the Suzuki method, with excursions into traditional American and Celtic music, liturgical music, and is quite adept at improvisation. He taught violin lessons at The Center of Music and Art from 2005-2006. Over the next 6 years after college graduation in 2010, he worked in the engineering industry and obtained a masters degree at University of Wisconsin-Madison, all the while making sure to pick up the violin once in awhile to keep from getting too rusty. Over the years, he has extensively played violin for Mass, weddings, and other occasions. He performed on two occasions with the band Switchback while living in Wisconsin, and in May of 2016, he traveled to Ireland and spent a couple memorable evenings in the pubs of Trim playing traditional music with the locals. He is now back in the Ohio Valley to settle down as well as refocus on music and art in a bigger way, once again.

In his spare time, Matthew enjoys a plethora of activities, including drawing, programming, designing boats, learning traditional skills, and others. He enjoys flying airplanes whenever he gets the chance, and is a private pilot. At the moment, his primary activities are preparing to build a new house, and drawing. He offers prints of his art for sale at www.graphiteseas.com.
