We are pleased to announce a new artist taking part in the monthly art show. The center is showcasing art work from local artists each month and making the work available for purchase. The artist for March is Jacob Bucy.
Jacob’s work focuses on color, imagination, and expression. He does not use brushes, chemicals, or water, but rather ordinary house paint of various brands. The paintings start as drip paintings and he manipulates the canvas, adding color until his desired effect is achieved.
Bucy’s artwork has been featured throughout West Virginia, from the Tamarack in Beckley and the Art Emporium in Charleston to the Stifel Fine Arts Center in Wheeling. Some of his pieces have received honors from Arts Link of New Martinsville as well as the Monroe artists’ annual juried exhibition. His influences include Jackson Pollack, Mark Rothko, and Jasper Johns.
The current show will run through March 28 and is open to the public for free viewing during business hours at the center.
Area artists interested in showcasing their work in future shows may contact the center at (740) 264-3111.
